Heat Pump Technology Explained

Heat from the air into your water

Heat pumps work by extracting heat out of the air and then injecting it into water. The system works by using the principle of a reverse cycle refrigeration circuit, outputing cold air even as the water is heated.

The Compact Solar Heat Pump consists basically of three major components; a compressor plus two heat exchangers (an evaporator & a condenser).

In operation, the evaporator absorbs whatever heat energy is available to it from the surrounding air to vaporise the refrigerant. The vapour is then compressed, raising its pressure and temperature.

This high temperature vapour is passed through pipes that form a heat exchange mechanism. As the refrigerant vapour condenses back to its liquid form inside the pipes, it gives off its heat to the water.
